This basket with lid is handmade by famous weaver Marian John of the Coushatta Indian Tribe. Born in 1938 in Louisiana
Marian John has her work in The Smithsonian Museum, The National Museum of the American Indian, Contemporary Arts Museum, The Peabody Museum. She learned her skill from her mother and has passed it on to her children.
While I lived in Louisiana, my wife purchased this unique basket and have owned it for over 50 years. This piece has never been used and comes with it's original brochure. The basket measures 2 1/2 x 3" with a 1 3/4" base.
