11" Vintage MIB Moldavian Pair Moldova Soviet Union Russian
This sweet faced couple is from a series of dolls (kukla) made in the former Soviet Union. They were made in Leningrad in the 1970s-80s. T-35
The dolls represent the various ethnic and regional groups from the huge Union of Soviet Socialist Republic(USSR or CCCP.) This pair represents the former Soviet Socialist Republic of Moldavia, which is now an independent nation. Sometimes this region is spelled Moldova.
Moldova is in the south western part of the USSR bordering Romania and Ukraine. See maps. The region actually exists as the independent country and as a region on neighboring Romania.
They are 11 inches tall.
Doll construction All plastic with jointed arms, legs and necks, so they can be positioned. Facial features are painted. Dark hair worn in a Dutch Boy for him, and the girl wears hers in a long braid down the back. No original box or stand
