Carlo (Tony Curtis), who was traveling with all his possessions in his car, gets into an accident due to the carelessness of Laura (Claudia Cardinale), who was painting on the coast of Santa Monica, and his car is completely burned. He goes to her house to get compensation from Laura's car insurance, but the insurance certificate cannot be found. He ends up staying at Laura's house, but in the middle of the night, Laura's patron, Rod (Robert Webber), visits, and Carlo is kicked out.
The next morning, Carlo, who was swimming at the beach, bumps into a surfboard and faints. He falls in love at first sight with Malibu (Sharon Tate), a bikini-clad beauty who takes care of him. Laura tells Carlo that Rod is the president of a pool construction company, and because Rod's wife is bedridden, they cannot separate, and they have been in a relationship for six years. Carlo, who learns that Diane (Joanna Barnes) he meets in an elevator is Rod's wife, succeeds in infiltrating Rod's company as a salesman.
